Preordering the new Apple Watch Series 4? Read this article.

The 2mm rule
My Apple Watch Series 4 buyers, I encourage you to don’t trash your existing bands when you buy the new Series 4. So it was 2 days before I wrote this, that Apple introduced the Series 4. Today, preorders has now begun, and all of the spots to pick it up at your local Apple Store, is all taken.

First off, the new Apple Watch consists of 2 new sizes: 40mm and 44mm. While you may confuse these as all 42mm casings, they have different lengths and widths. Use this simple equation to convert your existing Apple Watch casing size to the new Series 4 casing sizes, in mm:

S=e+2

And here’s an example of the conversion of 38mm:

40mm=38mm+2

Notice that your new Apple Watch Series 4 casing length conversion is the variable S, for y. Your existing Apple Watch casing size goes into the variable e, for x. So if your Apple Watch bands that fit in the casing length of variable e, it can also fit the new Apple Watch casing size of variable s. All Apple Watch Series 0, 1,2,and 3, 38mm and 42mm, have same widths as the series 4.
